Something new from a Beatle always makes us pay attention -- and Paul McCartney has been doing his best to make sure we’re aware of the new “The Boys of Dungeon Lane.” It’s tops in a competitive week that includes titles from Willie Nelson, Shinedown, Kurt Vile, aespa and The Alarm, the debut of Violet Grohl, live sets from Bruce Springsteen and The Who, and a “K-Pops!” collection curated by Anderson.Paak (all subject to change)...
Album of the Week: Paul McCartney, “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” (MPL/Capitol): McCartney -- highly visible after appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” finale -- goes deep into nostalgia for his 20th solo album, teaming with hot-hand producer Andrew Watt for these 14 moving remembrances of his Liverpool upbringing. It’s a mostly one-man affair on the vocals and instrument, but “Home to Us” features Beatles mate Ringo Starr as well as Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde and Texas’ Sharleen Spiteri.
